This luxurious and striking refillable 1930s Spider Compact was designed by founder, Gabriela Hernandez, as a celebration of the 20^th Anniversary of Bésame. The limited-edition, vintage-inspired compact is silver-plated with its web hand-painted in black enamel and embellished with a red crystal.  Compatible with any of our blush, highlighter and translucent setting powder refills, when you purchase this compact it includes your choice of a powder refill. The compact uses magnets to hold the powder makeup refills in place and also includes a mirror, magnetic closure and a protective velvet pouch for safely storing the compact. Only a limited quantity of the Spider Compact are currently available.

THE HISTORY OF THE SPIDER COMPACT

From Egyptian times to the Victorian Age, insects like spiders were a popular theme in jewelry, compacts, and decorative arts.  The design for our 1930s Spider Compact is influenced by both the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements.  Both periods are marked by a fascination with nature and exotic new world discoveries. This particular compact also embodies the classic geometric, clean lines and symmetrical nature of the Art Deco period.
